Playwright alternative

A Playwright alternative for teams that don’t write code

Playwright automation is excellent — if someone on your team writes and maintains test code. BuniOD starts from a plain-language description instead.

Playwright automated testing is code — someone has to own it

Playwright drives real browsers with a single API, and its test generator can record clicks into code. But the result is still a codebase.

  • Tests are written in TypeScript or JavaScript, Python, Java or .NET.
  • Recorded tests become code that has to be reviewed, fixed and kept up to date.
  • QA and product people wait for an engineer to add or repair a check.

With BuniOD, you write the steps in plain language instead

Plain language in

Write the steps and the expected result. BuniOD matches each step to your pages and adds the checks.

A person approves

Nothing runs until you confirm the scenario. Adjust input values or regenerate from an updated prompt.

Runs on a schedule

Confirmed scenarios run in a real Chromium browser on demand or once a day.

Failures explained

See the step or check that failed, with an explanation, a screenshot and console and network logs.

Choose Playwright if

  • engineers on your team write and maintain test code
  • you need Firefox or WebKit coverage, or tests that gate every pull request in CI
  • you want full control in code at no license cost

Choose BuniOD if

  • testers, product managers or founders should be able to add a check
  • you’d rather not maintain a test codebase
  • you want your key flows checked every day, starting today
How it works

Three steps to a daily check

01

Connect your site

Add your staging URL. Public pages need nothing else; signed-in areas use HTTP basic auth or a test identity.

02

Write the steps

Write the test steps and the expected result in plain language, the way you would brief a tester. BuniOD matches each step to your page and adds the checks.

03

Review, then run daily

Confirm the scenario, run it on demand or once a day, and see the failed step with a screenshot and logs.

Questions

Can we use BuniOD and Playwright together?

Yes. Keep code-level tests where engineers own them, and use BuniOD for the flows QA or product want to check without code. BuniOD runs independently of your test suite.

Can I import my Playwright tests?

No. BuniOD creates scenarios from plain-language descriptions; there is no import of Playwright scripts.

Does BuniOD need our source code?

No. It tests your application through the browser and doesn’t need access to your repository.

Which browsers does BuniOD run in?

Desktop Chromium. If you need Firefox or WebKit coverage, Playwright is the better fit for those tests.

Describe your first flow instead of coding it.
